Come enjoy the serenity of our hometown river.  This will be a small group trip on the Boardman, only 20 minutes from downtown TC.  You will marvel at the remote feeling you get without going very far from home.  Paddling time should be about 3 hours. We will shuttle sharply at 8:30 to be on the river by 9 am... we want to be off the river and home before the traffic gets busy...

There will likely be several fun riffles along the way.  The current is quick, but the river is wide enough to be easily negotiated by adventurous beginners.  It's a good place to practice maneuvering in current and practicing those back ferries!

Boardman (Brown Bridge Landing)

Take Garfield Road south of Traverse City to River Road.  Turn left (east) and drive about 1/4 mile.  You will cross Arbutus Hill Road, and then the river itself.  Turn left into the TC Light and Power parking lot.  If you run out of blacktop, you went about 50 yards too far.  Drive down the path 100 yards to access the river.

(Note: MapQuest thinks the pond is still there - it's a river now, folks!)
