September 19 And now it's fall - on the Upper Platte

Published on 9/19/2018
A bit of fall was in the air when Jocelyn, Fred, John, and Lois dipped their paddles into the cold water of the Upper Platte River. As we made our way down the river, we naturally paired up. First John and Fred were together at the back, while Jocelyn and Lois took the lead. As a little bit of trash was found, Jocelyn and Fred competed for the prize, while John and Lois took the lead. We never took a break because it felt good to generate a little heat by paddling. We chased a great blue heron downstream because he never figured out it was better to fly upstream to get away from us. Aside from two fisherman, we had the river to ourselves.

A dead sprig of grass told me summer was near its end.
