What a wonder-full day with friends hiking the Manistee River Trail from Red Bridge to Woodpecker Creek, then paddling back to our cars, approx 10 miles each way. Considering the summery weather, the trail was busy with young hikers, backpackers & campers, including a Ferris State University backpacking class. There were 11 of us for the hike from 9:30-2 with several stops, then 7 for the paddle from 2:30-5. Again, the fall colors were more muted along the river compared to the area roads.
