12th Annual Boardman River Clean Sweep

It rained the night before but our MOTHER NATURE was kind and all the rain ended

but SHE left the clouds to keep it cool for us in the morning.

45 people showed up at Brown Bridge Landing and 33 people came to the Hull Park downtown.  We had a whooping 20 people show up from the KHS-ODAC.  They did a great job and Michell McPherson won the H. Cox and Son Youth Stewardship kayak and paddle. He was shocked!  Lois Goldstein won the 2016 BRCS Strokes Of Achievement Award Paddle, hand carved and painted by Alan Blair.

The USCG had a smaller than normal contingent but had some local paddlers

added to their group.  They got some great pictures for us.

Everything went as planned except for one downtown crew that started at Hull Park instead of Hannah Park which made them late for the picnic and festivities.  All else was as expected and we removed about 1500 pounds of trash from the river.

Jaquie Rossfeld cooked again this year and the food was gone by 1:00. THANKS JAQUIE!!! Some of the KHS boys had a few more hot dogs than normal but growing boys need their food.

We shared our 20 yard dumpster with an Invasive Species group since we could not

fill it and it costs the same whether it's returned full or empty.

I want to thank all our sponsors, volunteers, and shuttle drivers for a great job, well done.

And ESPECIALLY I want to thank our MOTHER NATURE for providing us such a gorgeous day to do this work.
