Lois and John gave a private lesson to soon-to-be-member Linnaea Melcarek on the Boardman from Shumsky to Beitner. Along the way, Linnaea learned a number of techniques, such as easier ways to enter your kayak, how to ferry a kayak across the river while pointed both upstream and downstream, how to extract yourself from obstacles on the river when your kayak gets hung up, how to enter an eddy and then "peel out" from it, and more. It was a very pleasant warm afternoon paddle. Linnaea is excited to join the club in future outings, including the upcoming paddle down the Little Manistee.
