On Monday July 18th Lois and John gave Sue and me a great lesson kayaking on moving water. We both had some fears about the river and Lois and John did a great job alleviating those fears. We learned how to get into the boat, proper paddling technique, upstream ferries, back ferries, eddy turns, peel-outs, and handling obstacles that might obstruct your path down the river. We learned so much and especially were grateful for the big rock lesson. The weather was great, no rain, and we even had time for a swim. We spent the afternoon covering the stretch from Shumsky to Beitner.
