We will paddle from either Glen Haven to Empire or Empire to Glen Haven depending on the wind direction. This will be roughly 3 hours depending on conditions. I will e-mail the night before giving our starting point. I will confirm by phone early the morning of the trip.
Twelve foot minimum boat length with two sealed bulkheads required. P.F.D.'s must be worn at all times NO exceptions! Bow line required. Change of clothes in a dry bag required. This is a open water paddle, be prepared for larger waves if waves are under 2 feet at the start this trip is a go. We will paddle along the shore in front of Sleeping Bear Dunes. For safety reasons you are expected to stay together. Full spray skirt/deck, paddle float and pump highly recommended. Be prepared for waves. We may or may not stop for lunch and possible swimming depending on conditions. Be prepared to eat lunch in your boat. Bring accessible water and snacks as well.
The trip will involve a car shuttle between the two access points, and the beach parking in Empire is $1 per hour.
