June 16 Pere Marquette

I had obtained the maximum number of watercraft permits for this trip, and with two members cancelling at the last minute, that meant that Harold, Marlene, John H and I had the river to ourselves. Sure wish some of you could have joined us.  Lots of wildlife sightings: deer, beaver, a wide variety of turtles and ducks and flying birds.  Easy current - even Rainbow Rapids seemed kind of mellow compared to previous trips - maybe we are simply older and more mellow ourselves. 

Note: one topic of discussion was trying to figure out who is the oldest active paddler in the TAPC.  Is it NF?  JT?  MP?  TA?  JM?

We met two young people who put in at our lunch stop, and two sets of fisher people.  Marv did the shuttle in his new truck - very luxurious!
