Come get initiated into Sara's 7-Day Adventurist Club! The Upper Platte was high & fast, with some extra riffles, after the rain on Tues. So, one more time before summer, though I probably shouldn't, after the CCCC Bloody Mary Breakfast Ride!
It may be crowded, but if so, we'll have fun paddling the obstacle course, and help those stuck in the low leaning trees in the cedar swamp. We've spotted mergansers, blue heron, muskrat & marsh marigolds, along the way. Come join me for some riffles & dinner afterwards, at the recently, re-opened Platte River Inn in Honor.
This is a narrow, shallow gravel river among cedar swamp, with lots of twists & turns, and some riffles. It takes approx 2 hrs to paddle the 7 mile stretch through Honor to Indian Hill Rd, another 1/2 hr to 45 minutes to paddle to Deadstream Rd. We will stop along the way for a short picnic lunch. (Not today, dinner instead) Bring PFD, paddle, bow & stern lines, snack, water & appropriate clothing in a dry bag.
There will be 2 options for the take-out, depending on the wind on Platte Lake: 1) along the eastern shore of Platte Lake, or 2) up the creek. If it gets windy & rough during our 3 hr paddle, it may not be safe to paddle across the lake.
If cold rain, this trip may be cancelled.
