About this event

The Lower Platte is the most popular river in our area, and the TAPC hasn't organized a cleanup there in some time.

The Lower Platte between M-22 and Lake Michigan the easiest river in our area, and consequently it gets lots of usage during the summer months.  Unfortunately, that also means that it gets far too much trash dropped into it.  We will paddle downstream, picking up stuff as we go.  The group will stop for a break snack halfway down, and we’ll continue on to the mouth of the river.

Every time we clean the river, we find less and less stuff; maybe this will be the time we don't find anything!  In any case, it should be a great trip!
The Lower Platte has a sandy bottom all the way, and has exceptionally clear water.  Driving time from Traverse City is about an hour.

This is a great river to take a friend, so if you would like to bring a guest or two please let me know and I will open up spots.  It is a short easy shuttle.
