The forecast for this Saturday is for temps in the 80s! Shorts weather! This is an easy beginner river trip that will give you both gorgeous scenery and terrific paddling conditions. Come join us! This is a lovely stretch of river that flows through the Mason Tract, a sanctuary that has been donated to the state and is set aside as a natural area. Paddlers of all levels (even kids) will enjoy a delightful outing on this scenic stream. The water is fairly shallow (with a sand bottom). The fall colors should be downright glorious by late September. Paddling time is about 4 hours.
The trip will begin at Steckert Bridge, which is about 100 yards north of Paddle Brave Campground and Canoes. We will be using them to help with the shuttle, but the access to the river is easier at the DNR landing. See driving directions on our website; go to South Branch of the AuSable (Paddle Brave).
