After discussing with some Benzie friends this morning, they convinced me that it would be too crowded. Since Bob Fitch was the only one interested, we agreed to cancel the paddle until a later date.

Our Cherry Capital Cycling Club ride will start at 9AM with a ride to Bud's in Interlochen & back, 20, 36, 43 & 47 mile routes. We should return to the downtown park in Honor by 1PM. From there, we will drive Deadstream Rd to M-22, and unload boats & gear at the park on the south side of Lake Michigan Rd, across from the Platte River Campground entrance in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. You will need a National Park pass, which can be purchased at the CG, or at a pay station at the take-out. After we have unloaded, someone will stay there while we shuttle cars to the take-out at Platte River Point/Lake Michigan. This is an easy 4-mile paddle down the wide, slow Lower Platte River, across Loon Lake & through the fish weir to the outlet at Lake Michigan. It takes approx 1 hr. Bring your PFD, paddle, water bottle & a picnic lunch (or stop at Riverside Canoe for a sandwich & ice cream), and if staying afterwards, swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, beach toys, etc. Enjoy a refreshing swim to the spit for a great view of Empire Bluffs across Platte Bay.
