This trip will cover the 7 mile stretch of the Betsie from Wallin / Long Road to Thompsonville.  The river requires some maneuvering and you will encounter some downed trees, but nothing that an adventurous beginner can't handle.  The water is shallow and very clear.  The water levels should be decent this early in the season, and it is unlikely that we will encounter any other paddlers.  But there might be some downed trees that will require portaging or skootching underneath.

We will stop for lunch midway through the paddle.  Our actual paddling time should be three to four hours.  Bring a lunch, and a dry bag with a change of clothing, just in case.

We plan to run the shuttle promptly at 9:30 AM, so please arrive early enough so that you are all set to move the vehicles at that time.

Betsie River (Wallin Road / Long Road)

From Chums Corners take US-31 west about 15 miles and turn left (south) on Thompsonville Highway (County 669).  Continue south on Thompsonville Highway (County 669) about 6 miles and then turn left (east) on Wallin Road.  Go 2 miles to Long Road and turn right (south).  Drive about .3 mile to the access on your left.
