October 25, 2014 - Saturday

Sabin Pond Upper Bank Cleanup

Cass Rd at the Meadows Pavilion - South Parking Lot
Grand Traverse County School Bus Garage.

The upper banks of the Sabin Pond near the Meadows Pavilion are in need of our help.

There is a very old dump site next to a trail that is filled with cement debris, glass,
lumber,  tin cans, and other household trash.  Nothing large like mattresses or dining
room tables, AND nothing that smells bad like nasty diapers or rotting food.

We will have a dumpster and a front-end loader to help us do the work.

This site is OLD!  No one has dumped there for decades but it needs to be
cleaned up once and for all because the Sabin Dam is about to be removed
and this will be part of our beautiful Boardman River in just a few years.

We have the plan for the cleanup all set, and it should be done in a few hours of work.

If you plan to come, you will need some heavy shoes or boots, long pants,  and a long sleeve shirt.
Bring a pitchfork and shovel if you have them.

Work gloves will be provided,  but if you want to use your own, that will be fine.

Grand Traverse County will host a picnic after the event at the Meadows
Pavilion to celebrate our success.

We need 20 people to do the job.

So, if you paddle the river or hike the trails, this is a project for you.

Come out and help do this good deed for the Boardman and your community.

Here are some pictures of what to expect.

Cement Debris behind the bushes

 Lumber debris with nails

Glass and many, many old tin cans
