No help from the peanut gallery on this one! After heavy rain & thunderstorms, it appears to be clearing, so I'll meet you there if you want to go. May still get some scattered storms later.

5:30PM 9/3 email:
At this point, it appears we have a good chance of rain & thunderstorms tomorrow morning during our paddle. I suspect it may need to be cancelled. I had to cancel the Pine on Monday, and the forecast was partly correct, there were thunderstorms & heavy rain for 1.5 hrs during the time we would have been on the river. So, I think it was a good choice. Let me know if you want to cancel now. Otherwise, I’ll make a final decision at 7:30 tomorrow morning & post on the TAPC website.

This is a narrow, shallow gravel river among cedar swamp, with lots of twists & turns, and some riffles. It takes approx 2 hrs to paddle the 7 mile stretch through Honor to Indian Hill Rd, another 1/2 hr to 45 minutes to paddle to Deadstream Rd. Bring PFD, paddle, bow & stern lines, snack, water & appropriate clothing in a dry bag.

There will be 2 options for the take-out, depending on the wind on Platte Lake: 1) along the eastern shore of Platte Lake, or 2) up the creek (N Platte River). If it gets windy during our 3 hr paddle, it may be too rough to canoe across the lake.

If rain or thunderstorms forecast, this trip may be cancelled. Call me if uncertain.
